The A word, our private struggle

We have been quietly fighting a battle in our home.

keeping it to ourselves.

Struggling thru.

Not because we are ashamed, but we were hoping for real answers before people shared their opinions

Just Waiting to see daylight.

But it seems now daylight, any kind of real answers are still months and months away.

Our sweet Kier has some noticeable delays. We went into this questioning her speech development. Those questions lead us tomore tests and then to people throwing around the A word. Autism. and that word lead us to BIG centers with people who said no, and to another who said well yes, maybe and its been an endless circle of yes and no and specialists. Each one leaving us with more questions and no answers. All we know right now is we dont know.

As a mother I want to scream. Waiting lists. Hoop jumping. Answering the same questions over and over and over. Frustrated doesnt even begin to describe it. I keep hoping the next appointment will be with someone who has a real answer, and if not an answer. A plan. An idea. Anything to help us help her navigate this world better. I want answers. I wanted them yesterday. But this is definetly going to be a game of endurance. Thankfully I am well prepared. When i look in that sweet perfect face, I know there is no end to the fight in me.

As I fight for my child, I have to battle the reality that she is not "normal", the idea that i did something wrong, the guilt. its not been easy. There are tears that I cannot explain, and anger and more questions. What could i do differently, what should I have done differently. why why why. But I know why...I was given this life because I am strong enough to live it. Alot of faith has been placed in me. 4 daughters. as if that challenge was not enough, now this. Alright then. Game on.

She loves me, and she knows me. She knows me so well, that she checks to see what my color theme is for Christmas so she can get matching wrapping paper because she knows I CANNOT stand for things not to match. LOVE her for that.

Marriage. My Marriage more specifically.

7 years ago I became Mrs. Fultz. We thought we were so grown...and looking back I can see we were just silly kids who were crazy crazy in love. We came into this union with very few examples of what a marriage should be. So even though we were stumbling blindly through it, making it up as we go along, I think we have been doing a pretty good job. We are more crazy in love. We are still best friends. It is still us against the world, only now us has grown from 2 to 6. I would still choose him, even on his worst day over any other man in this world. I am so thankful for the life we have built...the journey it has taken us on. ..and for where the future will take us.

Its OFFICIAL. The voice has left me. I dunno if it is for good, but for now, there is no more baby voice. In the last 18 months I have witnessed more tragedies involving babies of people in my life than I have in the nearly 30 years prior. I am reminded to be grateful for the 4 perfect babies that were gifted to me. How lucky I am, because the road here was not smooth. It was full of heartbreak, and yet for others it is so much worse....I am so humbled, so grateful, so truly blessed. So I am going to focus on what I have and not long for more....

The key to any successful marriage is to make your partner think it was their idea first. I dunno who told me that but it was the truest statement I was ever told about marriage ( the SECOND being: you dont just marry your spouse you marry theie WHOLE family...but that is a WHOLE other blog post:) ).

I have been hounding my darling hubby FOREVER about buying organic, increasing our veggie intake etc, etc. I am PROUD to say I have finally won. Thank you INSANITY and Mr. White for helping G see the light. Even if he feels like he made the choice for things to change, I am still chalking this up as a win for me.

I feel like a crazy person. I have cried everyday this week. I am watching my "story" come to an end. And its hard. HARD. I have spent 5 hours a week for nearly 6 years with the people of Pine Valley. I will truly miss it. All My Children has been part of my routine since I entered the world of mommyhood, it has carried me thru the isolation that full time parenting sometimes brings.

The Ground Beef Story.

Life with girls, or life with MY girls at least cannot be much different than life with boys.

This morning I smelled a MYSTERIOUS aka disgusting, unidentifiable ( i almost wish I hadnt identifed it) rotten sour smell in our den. wait, strike that. in the KIDS DEN, Mommy and Daddy now have our own living room ( i need to post pics, i LOVE my new couch and love seat). I ripped that bad boy apart, COMPLETELY. I tore the covers off the cushions ( they needed to be washed anyhow) I moved all the furniture to one side of the room ( i was a woman on a mission) I drug the area rugs out side for some sunshine, i could not find it ( i even smelt myself to be sure it wasnt me, it wasnt). Puzzled, baffled but not defeated I walked to the entertainment center and decided I would organize it while I thought of other sources. I opended the drawers and the stench smacked me in the face. I look down on the shelf and i find a ziploc baggie of once frozen ground beef sitting there. I quickly snatch it up and take it to the trash and grab my lysol arsenol to clean up the smell and mess. OH. MY. GOODNESS. Once again motherhood is not for the weak, and especially not for the weak stomached.

Now for the back story, and the reason why I am not mad... 2 nights ago Cai and Deegs were wrestiling, not fighting, really wrestling...practicing to become UFC fighters in the future wrestling ( i told you they are like lil boys) Deegs hand got squished and cai ever graciously went to find her a cupcake ice pack...but there wasnt one in the freezer ( they were not frozen from some previous episode of a boo boo) Being the smart, quick, considerate, problem solver she is, she grabs this baggy of ground beef and gives it to Reegan. All is well in the world.

Shame on me for forgetting all about this MIA bag of ground beef. I will be investing in some more icepacks.

So, I had just about given up on nail polish. I'm a mom and well I wash my hands 10 gazillion times a day. I cannnot have acrylic, wrap, what have you nails anymore. Too much maintenance and once again I am a mom and long fingernails seem to get in the way or stab kiddies in the eyes (yes, this has happened, multiple times). So i have just opted for a good ole buff to keep em shiny, and even that turns out to be too much work sometimes, have I mentioned I am a mom, a mom of 4?? :):):) BUT i love the look of a nice well kept short mainicure. Lindsey at www.momandwife.com gave such rave reviews about her Shellac pedicure ( she claimed her pedicure lasted over a month with no chipping),someone else said the manicure lasts and lasts.... I decided to try it. i got both the mani and pedi ( Darling Spouse has been away on business trips the last 2 weeks I think he was afraid I would go completely insane if he denied me this) I m happy to report that my manicure is in tact after 10 days as well as my pedicure... I am in LOVE with this stuff. cute short polished, unchipped nails... that last longer than 10 hours. This makes my list of FAV products wih mr clean magic erasers and the bounce bar.

I remember everything about that morning. I remember rushing around. getting ready...I was going to be late for work because I hadnt slept a wink crying over the end of things with boy who i wouldn't remember except that he is tied to this awful day. I remember being annoyed that the phone was ringing and that my mom was calling when she knew I should already be on my way to work. I just wasnt in the mood. I remember being even more annoyed as she urged me to turn on the tv because the world was ending (dramatic much). And then I remember standing there in disbelief with my roommate watching those unbelievable images. Having no clue what was really happening what it all meant. I drove to work in a daze, and when I arrived , my boss was filling the office with tvs and radios, he had brought his gun in with him (gotta love a country boy) we searched the internet for updates. The day was all kind of a blur, I was worried for my family and not so worried about that boy anymore. I remember wondering why people would want to bring children into a world like this.

10 years later and its all still so vivid. I am still in awe of the heroes of that day and of the people who have become heroes because of that day. I will never forget.

Its not even 8 am and my plan for the day has already changed...

I had planned to FINALLY get some first day of kinder pics up here, and to tell the story of that morning. AND to show you some pics of how the adult living room is coming together... but those will once again have to wait.

It isnt even 8 am yet and the Hubs has left on another business trip. thats 2 weeks in a row. SAD face. and I have a child with an awful ear ache. So i will wait for the Pediatrican's office to open and drag my kiddies there to get that handled. This is the life of Mommy. and even though it kinda sounds like I am complaining ( i might be a little bit) I cant imagine it being any other way...

Oh but I am grateful that there isnt banging and noise outside the window just yet, the city workers have not arrived to finish repairing the water main that busted IN FRONT OF OUR HOUSE on Saturday. Yea good times.

So for now i will enjoy my coffee and the little peace and quiet I have before this day really starts.

The GRITS (girls raised in the South) had their dental check ups this morning. It was Kier and Adee's 1st time. They all did GREAT, almost no tears. I LOVED the office, which I was nervous about. Its hard making the transition to "strangers" but all went well. Cailin has some "extra" work to be completed ( can you say cha-ching? ugh) but the rest were cavity free. This makes for a happy mommy. and happy GRITS, they came home with finger puppets, stickers, tattoos, new Dora books, oh yeah and Princess toothbrushes, flossers and toothpaste. It was a goodie fest!!!!

BUT she is super devilish! Love my Deegalicious BUT today ...well today she nearly made me lose my mind. The highlights are.....she threw wet chalk all over the side of the house, she took everything out of her dresser, she cut the string on my bedroom blinds( she has such a wretched past with scissors I AM glad it was the blinds and not her hair!!!), the list goes on and on. This lil lady keeps me on my toes, and always has mischief in her eyes!

I am sitting a the table with 3 coloring girls. and one sweet baby napping. I am reminded how blessed I am. to be here, present, with them ALL the time. And it isn't always easy. In fact some days I am not sure how I am gonna get up and do it again the next day. BUT I do. and SOMETHING, even a teeny tiny simple thing will happen and remind me why it is all worth it. Writing our own Fairytale...

So, yesterday was our 8 year anniversary....of the first date that never ended. It seems like the years have passed so fast, and then it also seems like we've always been together. Writing our own fairytale. And there have been plenty of evil witches and trolls along the way, believe me. But one thing has always been true. That man is my knight in shining armor. My champion. Whatever life has thrown our way he has been right there by my side. Steadfast and true. He is such a gift. And I am so lucky. I hope I never forget that.

Everyday, after I put Kier and Adysen down for their afternoon nap I linger outside their room to listen. They always "talk" to each other. I wonder what they are saying since neither one of them is really talking yet. But its obvious they understand each other because they laugh and giggle and respond to one another. I always hear how twins are extra close...I have to wonder if the same is true of Irish twins. Although all my girlies are close, theirs seems to be the closest bond.

The End of an Era...

When I woke up today the HUGE collection of baby stuff((play pens, bumbo seats, clothes, bouncy chairs)) was gone. And although I had helped pack it all up last night, it still seemed odd. Felt off.

I have spent the better part of the last 5 years bringing babies into this world. And I am unbelievably blessed to have 4 perfect, healthy, beautiful little girls. And even though I turned in my child bearing card awhile ago. It hit me, square in the face. This is it. No more babies. I have to say it made me a little sad. I LOVED being pregnant. and now that part of my life is over.

But the sadness passed, probably from the euphoria of reducing a MAJOR amount of clutter. i hate clutter.But also because There is something comforting about knowing that my family is complete. That the scenery may change, my girls are gonna grow, Daddy and I will age, but it will be the six of us against the world. and that makes me happy.

It always comes full circle....

and i dont know why i do this... Plans are for people in control of their own lives. I believe that our path is set, we just have to learn to walk along it.

Current example... 6 plus years ago, a man offered Daddykins a job in...you guessed it Houston. and i said NO WAY, i would NEVER live anywhere but Orange County! I had a job i liked, a life i loved. and here we are 6 years, 4 kids, and a ton of moves later doing what? Moving to Houston. Guess I always had to take the long way...

and NO, we arent having another baby!

Daddy, Mommy and the Fultz 4 are future Texas residents.

Daddy's job is relocating us so that "the team" is all together. We are excited (and anxious and scared and optimistic and planning and obsessing and overthinking) for our new adventure.

I always thought I would make a great Southern Belle, and although it may be a little late for me... I am hoping the girls get cute southern accents!! So we are going to enjoy the spring here in Whatcom county and will be saying our farewell sometime in June in hopes that we can get settled and adjusted in time for Cailin to start kindergarten and Reegan preschool.

Right now its all just starting to sink in, I have so much research to do ((Did you know there arent ANY Trader Joe's in the entire state of Texas????? the horror)) so many lists and plans to make. But I will say this... I am excited, ecstaic, ALMOST giddy to be moving somewhere with a REAL mall!!!

This makes me HAPPY!!! I LOVE him!!!!

Can i just say the best thing ive ever done in my life is become a Mommy. And NOW can i say the best thing ive done for myself is go away for the weekend. I feel renewed...recharged...refreshed. i dont think i knew how run down i was. How much i needed a moment to be just be me...to stay up late laughing and not worry that i was gone be dragging the next day....to take an hour just to get myself ready. Call me selfish...judge me...i dont care. I know it was good for me...for my soul. I am a better mom for it. I missed my babies desperatley but thats good....i was reminded not to take for granted a moment i share with them! And Lord knows they pass by too quickly!

She was excited to be back with her friends and make some new ones!! Although the future excites me (and scares the pants off me) i cannot wait to see what it has in store for my girl. I promise she is going to change the world...she has already changed mine!

Today i took Cailin for her VERY FIRST Mother/Daughter mani pedi....

She picked out the polish....and of course (much to my horror) she picked out 2 shades...one for fingers and one for toes (My matching "thing" is flipping out on the inside)

I know she had fun, but I cannot find words to tell you how much I loved doing this together...it may have to be our new thing...until Reegan is old enough to join in the fun too!!!!!!!

I have decided.

Its time for a new look, a new approach.

Every day I say I am going to update about this or that and then, well its a looong list. Life gets busy around here and it gets put off until tomorrow, again and again.

I tried to update the big things, BUT the real beauty is in the little everyday things. The things that bring me to tears of joy, pull out my hair in frustration, laugh so hard I wet myself (REALLY my bladder is not so good these days). My life... My life with girls. 4 beautiful, silly birds who make my life, well my life. A life I never dreamed of. The things I want to remember, Cailin singing my favorite Lit song, or Reegan telling me I am her best friend. or how Kieryn will let nothing keep her from crawling into mhy lap anytime its free or how Adysen gazes at me and I cant remember what life was like without her. So my new approach is going to be that...daily (well almost daily) updates of the lil things...good...bad...and sometimes ugly.

So just to catch you up.
The highlight reel...

Adysen is 3 months old...and still so easy going. sleeping thru the night and some days into the early afternoon

Kieryn is 15 months old and still refusing to walk. She loves the summer and patty cake."Roooooolllll it"

Reegan is, well, Reegan. Counting to ten, singing her ABC's and doing everything she can to keep up with her BIG sister and best friend, Cailin

Cailin is Big sister extraordinaire. So helpful(too helpful at times). Loves the slip and slide and CANNOT wait for kindergarten, even though she hasn't even started PreK 4 yet :):)

Daddy and Mommy are enjoying the summer, no school for daddy so we have more time for family. We have decided our family may not be completely complete. So we have selected a date and if we are blessed with another pregnancy by then, well we are going to have another baby obviously, and if we aren't we are going to take a permanent step to stay Daddy, Mommy and 4 lil ladies.

Today Miss Adysen went to visit Dr Thompson... After she was weighed and measured and poked and prodded he announced...

"She's perfect...and isnt about time for you to be pregnant again?"

Adysen Alexandrea is also sleeping 12 hours a night (YES I know I am blessed and lucky) and smiling that beautiful one dimpled smile.

April 24-May 1st is National Infertility Awareness Week. As you play with your kids today, or tuck them into bed tonight, please take a minute to empathize with the millions of couples out there struggling to achieve what you have. If you or someone you love is affected by infertility, please post this in your status this week to show your support.

I saw this on facebook, and well its been on my mind ever since. Although we have now been blessed with 4 perfect, healthy, wonderful baby girls. We struggled with thhe challenhges of infertility... the days of thinking we would never have a baby of our very own have not faded from my memory. I would like to think I love our girls more fiercely because of the road we had to travel to bring them into this world. they truely are the greatest gift we have been given.

So hug those lil ones tight...so many people wish they had the opportunity to.

Feels like its been awhile.... Probably because i am all consumed with my sweet lil girls and darling babies. Adysen is a wonderful addition to our lil tribe... sleeping well, eating well. Like all her sisters before her just an all around GREAT baby. We are so blessed, just ask us... well any of us EXCEPT Kieryn... She is not as fond of Adysen as the rest of us are. (Mommy is feeling a little guilty about that, poor lil thing didnt get to be the baby for an entire year)

That said, our Kieryn Kingsleigh celebrated her 1st birthday surrounded by family, friends and tons of LOVE. Great Grandma and Grandpa Fultz came to visit. She has NO interest in walking, but we shoulda seen that coming since she seems t
o be follwowing in Cailins footsteps and Cailin refused to walk until she was nearly 15 months old!!!

Mommy is tired, tired, tired! There are never enough hours in the day...but i am not sure there ever were. I have high hopes we will find our rhtymn shortly. But I am ever greatful for Daddys never ending help. Even after work and school he finds time to help around here. I am one lucky lady...

I am hoping to find some free time in the next few days to post some pictures of the girls and everything that has been going on around here. And to work on Adysen's birth story...so many funny things to share about our hospital stay.

Oh and in case you were wondering.... maybe just maybe Team Fultz will expand again.... you do need 5 people for a starting Basketball Line Up....:):)

A year ago you awoke me in the middle of the night to let me know you were FINALLY (4 days AFTER your due date) ready to meet us! and barely 4 hours later we laid eyes on all 10lbs 13oz of you!!!

So Excited, ECSTATIC to announce that Baby Girl, still officialy nameless, will be joining us Saturday April 10th!! After weeks of false alarms, and a possible c-section looming over us we have an induction scheduled.... so unless she decides she wants to meet us sooner a week from today we will be holding our sweet lil angel, the final member of our estrogen filled home!!!

I have "to do" lists like no ones business to complete, diapers to buy (how did i forget to buy diapers until now???!!!?!?!) But I feel so at peace now, I can see the end in sight. and I knowthe I can get what HAS to be done DONE and what can wait will have to.

The icing on the cake is we will all be home in time for Kieryn's 1st Birthday on the 14th!!! although I am a little guilt ridden that I wont be throwing her a HUGE birthday bash I am sure she wont mind! and will be so excited to have someone smaller than her around here!

Poor Baby Fultz is without an official name, once again. Other than Cailin, all of the girls have been named last minute... Reegan, only a few short weeks before her arrival, Kier, not til 12 hours after she entered our world.

I picked a name once we knew she was a girl.... then We picked a name, and now just 48 days from our due date Daddy gets an inspiration.... oh what to do what to do. Can I just say I am SO glad I didnt buy anything personalized yet!

&&&&&&&&& I dunno what to do... we now have 2 gorgeous names, and no decision...guess we are gonna have to wait to lay eyes on her perfect lil face! This is a planners worst nightmare!!!!

SOOOOOO... I am not to prideful to admit when I have been wrong, I have rolled my eyes and lovingly called many many people in my life Twi-tards since the "Twilight phenomenon" began. Garrett has been after me for months and months to watch the movie with him, and i finally ran out of excuses (i dont like vampires, Rob Pattinson will always be Cedric Diggery to me,etc, etc.) After watching the movie with my dear dear husband, my curiousity was peaked, So last monday night i picked up Twilight the novel and began reading and well I didnt stop reading until late last night when i had completed the ENTIRE saga. My poor children have been neglected, i have sooooo much laundry to catch up on, and i am sure my poor husband would like to have a conversation with me where i actully look at him and say something other than, "uh huh, yeah, sure, ok, thats fine" But i could not help myself. I was completely taken in by the story, in fact now that it is over i am desperately fighting the urge to just start reading all over again. I am going thru withdrawls, i just want more. So i guess i will just count the days until New Moon is released on dvd, and Eclipse is in the theaters..... or maybe i will give in to the urge and just re read the books over and over until baby Quinn arrives. Either way, I have no choice but admit, i am a HUGE Twi-tard, and i LOVE Edward Cullen!

We spent the day together as a family, we ate at our favorite buffet, watched Daddy play soccer, and made heart shaped pizzas for dinner!! This year was EXTRA special cause it was Kieryn's very FIRST Valentine's Day!!

There really is nothing better than being with the ones you love!!!

31 week check up....

Yesterday was our check up... Baby Q is measuring 33 weeks. So 2 weeks ahead seems to be where we are gonna stay. Dr says I have bad anemia and gestational diabetes. That said I have to monitor my blood sugar 4 times a day, follow a diet and visit the dr once a week. I for one think it is cruel and unusual punishment to make a pregnant woman diet but a healthy baby has to come first. On the bright side I didn't gain any weight... that makes a total of 2 lbs since October. Maybe this special diet will keep the extra padding off. hmmmmaybe this diet isnt as bad as I thought :):)

Today we are 60 days away from our due date. I am getting really anxious, but I am more and more convicted that this is it for Team Fultz. The Fultz 4 has a cute ring to it... and the Fultz 5, well we all see what a mess came from the Jackson 5 so I would rather quit while we are ahead!

It wouldnt be Valentine's Day without....

My New Best Friend...

I LOVE LOVE LOVE the smell of fresh laundry... LOVE IT!!! but I am not a fan of pesky dryer sheets that are always ALWAYS floating around my house...This is the coolest thing ever....I bought one hoping that maybe it would solve my dryer sheet annoyance and mildly satisfy my craving for that fresh smell....well it did and it has...even days later everything smells fresh and clean and I am no longer chasing dryer sheets. And at a time in my life when I need to simplify more than ever (am i really 64 days or so away from being the mother of FOUR girls 4 and under?!?!?!) This little bar makes me happy....and just ask my husband...HAPPY WIFE, HAPPY LIFE!!!!!!

Super Bowl Sunday...

We here at Team Fultz have never been big on Super Bowl parties, probably because we like to watch the game in our sweats. Every sunday of the season we celebrate Football Sundays, we hang out together, eat in and enjoy the time together. Super Bowl Sunday isnt much different. We had Daddy's awesome bacon avocado cheeseburgers and made cupcakes. Great Day. My favorite kind of day.

Baby Update...

Friday the WHOLE team went to visit Dr Madsen. The girls got to hear their baby sister's heartbeat for the first time. Our lil girl is still growing quickly... she is measuring 2 weeks ahead of schedule, which I guess is better than 4, but still BIG!!!

With only 10 weeks (hopefully less) we are starting to get prepared for her arrival. We got her crib, for a steal (75 bucks!!! Thank you Target clearance!!). I have sorted all the baby clothes out by size, made a tiny wish list of things she just HAS to HAVE!:) Can I say the best part of being on baby #4 is that I can focus on details like cute clippies and bibs and burp clothes instead of huge, costly necessities!!! and although i love being pregnant i will be glad when this is all over!! i have big plans to reclaim my once slim, cute body before my 30th birthday!!

Very very soon we will reveal to you our final princess' name.... in true Team Fultz fashion we have changed our minds from our original choice...but have settled on a name we both love! So all's well that ends well!
